Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and India

On 18 November 2023, in New Delhi, the 10th round of political consultations was held between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India. The consultations were co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan and Sanjay Verma, the Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India.
The parties discussed the issues of the recent dynamic development of cooperation anchored on traditional friendship and civilizational ties, high-level bilateral interactions and dialogue agenda. The interlocutors also touched upon the broadening of trade and economic ties, implementation of various communication initiatives and mutually beneficial cooperation within a number of multilateral platforms. The Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia presented the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, emphasising its advantages both in the context of economy and as a guarantee of peace for the countries in the region. The sides touched upon the international efforts towards the normalisation of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. Views were exchanged with Meenakashi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture of the Republic of India, on the implementation of previously agreed-upon educational and cultural programs and possibilities for mutually beneficial cooperation in other spheres. The importance of protection of the Armenian historical-cultural heritage in the South Caucasus was emphasised.
